Warp to Weave

Design your own beautiful alpaca scarf  from scratch

Enjoy a workshop that takes you from the source to the Scarf !

Spend two lovely days designing and making your own completely unique hand woven scarf. Working on a Rigid Heddle loom you will choose your yarns from the beautiful natural colours and hand dyed yarns from the Burnt Fen herd.

WEAVE

Keep it classic and weave a beautifully soft pure alpaca scarf in natural or hand dyed alpaca.

Or explore my stash of sari silks, art yarns and ribbons to add into your weaving.

 VENUE

We work in the relaxed atmosphere of my fondly named 'Kurt the Yurt', a traditional Mongolian yurt situated next to our alpaca fields.

Teas and coffee are available all day and I provide a homemade seasonal lunch.

TIMING

Each day runs from 10am - 4pm.
You are welcome to take breaks as you wish and the alpacas will no doubt meander over at some point to share a carrot or two with you!

The course allows plenty of time for choice and to really relax, understand and enjoy the process.

WARP

The warp are the vertical threads that form the skeleton backbone of your weaving and are integral to the creative design and finish of your project.

You will choose your own warp threads and learn how to "dress the loom" - put the warp onto your loom ready for weaving.

 WEFT

The weft are the horizontal threads woven through the vertical warp threads and give lots of opportunity for creative expression - the options are endless!
