WALKING  WITH  ALPACAS

 APRIL - SEPTEMBER

Come and meet our lovely Alpacas!

Meet the Team

Our alpacas have been escorting guests around the lovely private woodland and meadows of Burnt Fen for 17 years so they know their stuff!

We have around 40 alpacas at Burnt Fen, all with distinct personalities. They are very much part of our family and we guarantee that when you meet them, you will fall in love with them!

What Happens

Firstly you are introduced to the alpacas and learn about how to behave around them as they can be quite shy at first. When everyone is happy (human and alpaca), we round up the boys who are trained for walks and you choose and catch your alpaca - always an interesting moment!
Then you take a leisurely stroll in the company of your new alpaca friend.
Alpaca walking is more of an amble than a forced march as they do like to browse for snacks along the way - and sometimes have a good scratch in the hedges.

Our walk is just over a mile through woods and meadows so sturdy shoes and long trousers are best, especially as some of the more adventurous alpacas enjoy venturing off the path in search of interesting morsels!

After your walk you are welcome to feed the alpacas with carrots that we provide and tea and coffee is available in my studio.

 The Great British Weather

Alpaca walking is of course an outdoors pursuit and living in this lovely country
the weather at times can be somewhat damp, so please dress accordingly and fingers crossed for sunshine! Sadly if the weather is really bad we may have to cancel the walk and will rearrange or refund as necessary.

Our walking season runs from April to September.
