What Happens

Meet & Greet
Firstly you are introduced to the alpacas and learn about how to behave around them as they can be quite shy at first. When everyone is happy (human and alpaca), we round up the boys who are trained for walks and you choose and catch your alpaca - always an interesting moment!
Then you take a leisurely stroll through our beautiful woods in the company of your new alpaca friend.

The Walk
Alpaca walking is more of an amble than a forced march. They do like to browse for snacks along the way - and sometimes have a good scratch in the hedges.
Our walk is just over a mile through woods and meadows so sturdy shoes and long trousers are best, especially as some of the more adventurous alpacas enjoy venturing off the path in search of interesting morsels!

Chill Time
After your walk you are welcome to spend time with the alpacas and feed carrots that we provide.

Studio
You are also welcome to look around my studio - Kurt the Yurt.
I spin, weave and dye using the fibre from our herd and there is usually a selection of our alpaca yarn and handmade goods.
The Great British Weather
Alpaca walking is of course an outdoors pursuit and living in this lovely country the weather at times can be somewhat damp, so please dress accordingly and fingers crossed for sunshine!
If the weather is really bad we may have to cancel the walk and will rearrange or refund as necessary.
Our walking season runs from April to September

Our alpacas have been escorting guests around the private woodland and meadows of Burnt Fen for over 20 years so they know their stuff!
