PREVIOUS MAKERS FESTIVAL ADVENTURES !
SHIRT TO YURT
Makers Festival 2017
The tradition of weaving has been a fundamental part of civilisation for hundreds of years. Weaving allows us to wind together many textures and materials to create objects as diverse as a strong weather proof shelter to a fine silk shawl. The aim was for all ages and skills to be able to build and decorate a yurt type structure using recycled woven fabrics. The project was run by Ann Nickerson for the Countryside Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers as an interactive educational exhibition.

FELT WALKING
Makers Festival 2016
The aim was to make a piece of felt - in this case a long rug, which would be felted by people walking over the pre laid out fibres in the belief that they would felt due to the friction and pressures caused by the walking. We were hoping to prove the theory that felt was first made accidentally by shepherds putting fleece into their shoes for comfort and ending up with a felted material. The project was run by Ann Nickerson for the Countryside Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers as an interactive educational exhibition.
